Age As a Significant Predictor of Perceptions of Media Affordances of Facebook

Abstract

Facebook users age 18-25 were surveyed to determine perceptions of the site’s media affordances. Results showed age was a small but significant predictor for ratings of privacy of communication, persistence of information, and accessibility of the site. Older participants believed Facebook was less private and less persistent, but more accessible.
