Ordinality Trumps Cardinality: What We Spatialize When We Spatialize Numbers

Abstract

What aspects of number do people spatialize, magnitude or order? When these two aspects of number were pitted against each other, participants spatialized numbers in both lateral and vertical space according to their order in a memorized sequence, despite their magnitude. The MNL may be a mapping of ordinality.
