The Effects of a Stressor on State Anxiety Among Young Adults: The Role of Parental Care and Overprotection

Abstract

Change in state anxiety in response to a cognitive stressor and the modifying role of parental care and overprotection were examined. ANOVA analysis showed that the stressor produced an increase in state anxiety, especially with high parental overprotection and low care. Findings have implications for the management of stress.
