Music and Encoding Specificity: The Effects of Combined Modalities on Recognition

Abstract

Using a musical Incidental Learning Task, we found that participants remembered more musical segments in matched conditions than they did in mismatched conditions. This effect was shown across varying levels of music experience, including beginners. Musical experience was also shown to improve performance in the recognition task.
