Abstract

In a reversal learning task often used to assess cognitive flexibility, pre-reversal performance was related to knowledge of choice outcomes, while post-reversal performance was unrelated to knowledge. These findings suggest that expectancies based on choice knowledge do not adequately account for both initial learning and flexible adaptation to reversal.
