Abstract

We evaluated behavioral responses and sundowning symptoms of nursing home residents who listened to personalized music playlists. Residents who responded strongly were more likely to improve in their underlying dementia symptoms. Thus, personalized playlists for elderly patients should include songs that elicit observable behaviors because they may be most efficacious.
