Maternal Parenting Practices in Toddlerhood Predict Anxiety Symptoms in Early Childhood

Abstract

Parental Socialization of Emotion (PSE) is an important factor in a child’s socioemotional development, particularly during toddlerhood. Childhood anxiety has been linked both to PSE and to important outcomes as children age. Using stepwise analysis, PSE practices during toddlerhood shown to significantly predict anxiety symptoms during the transition middle childhood.
