Abstract

Soccer referees’ decision calibration was examined using a database of over 5900 yellow and red cards. Similar to previous studies, fewer cards were issued early in soccer matches. Also shown is inflation of effect size due to certain reasons for cards which, of necessity, must be issued late in matches.
