Abstract

This study investigated how benevolent sexism and the compensation effect may bias decision-making during the hiring process. Warm women were rated less hirable than warm men, and men with high benevolent sexism perceived qualified “cold” women as less competent than did less sexist men. Implications and solutions will be discussed.
