Abstract

College undergraduates read penalty phase transcripts that varied the presence or absence of a victim impact statement and varied the cultural worldviews of both the victim and the defendant. Defendant, but not victim worldview, correlated with fear ratings, but neither worldview factors significant predicted sentencing judgments.
