Abstract

Previous research findings on self-construal and mood have been mixed. In this study, self-construal priming did not affect self-esteem, interpretations of ambiguous situations, and mood. However, feeling similar was related to lower scores of depression, whereas feeling different was related to higher scores of depression and lower scores of self-esteem.
