Picturing Facial Displays of Emotion: Connections between Recognition and Imitation of Complex Emotion

Participants who more accurately identified facial displays of complex emotion were better at imitating complex emotions via their own face. Specifically, those who completed an emotion recognition task more accurately were judged as being more accurate when expressing complex emotions themselves.
