Abstract

The development of object permanence can greatly influence the survival of species. This research suggests that the environment affects the development and ultimate form of object permanence. Using specific tasks (Pollock, Prior, & Güntürkün, 2000), wild and domesticated turkeys had no significant differences in development, while the Muscovy ducks did.
