Abstract

We tested whether perceived resource competition influences how participants (N=117) learn about members of two social groups, one stereotyped as positive and the other as negative, through repeated interactions in a reinforcement learning paradigm. Choice behavior suggests that competition amplifies the instrumental learning of implicit prejudice.
