Abstract
The distinctions were made between surface-vs-deep culture that sojourners adapt to, and between surface-to-deep self-adjustment to the two versions of culture. A mediational model was constructed that included adaptive dissonance and effort (sojourners’ psychological experiences) as mediators that would transmit the effects of a series of antecedents to intercultural adaptation.
