Abstract

People often use intuitions rather than facts to assess risk. Across four studies, participant’s moral intuitions affected their risk assessments: people were more likely conflate what they judged as morally wrong with what they perceived as risky. Results have implications for medical, military, law enforcement, political, and judicial decision making.
