Abstract
Interpersonal processes may maintain depression. The current study evaluated maternal perceptions related to the mother-child relationship to identify risk and protective factors associated with change in depression over one month. Maternal depressive symptoms predicted linguistic patterns and self-reported responsibility for their children’s difficult emotions, which in turn predicted increasing depression.
