The Affective Approach Avoidance Task: An Objective Measure of Nonreactivity

Nonreactivity is an important facet of mindfulness.The objective measure is lacking. We proposed the Affective-Approach-Avoidance Task (AAAT) to investigate automatic action tendencies towards affective images. We found an inverse correlation between bias in action tendencies and nonreactivity, providing preliminary validation for the AAAT as a laboratory-based measure of nonreactivity.
