Abstract

Characters in children’s TV shows could serve as role models. A qualitative analysis of tweens’ favorite TV shows demonstrated 1.5 acts per minute and more social aggression in female and minority characters. 99% of socially aggressive behaviors were rewarded or received no punishment, suggesting tweens might imitate their behavior.
