Abstract

Adolescent and caregiver reports of social support from a non-abusing caregiver correlated positively with adolescents’ resilience following sexual abuse. Adolescents’ perceptions of mattering to others (i.e., feeling loved, valued, and needed) accounted for the relation between adolescent, but not caregiver, reports of non-abusing caregiver social support and adolescent resilience.
