Abstract

Despite cultural messages that women’s appearance is their defining feature, society does provide other sources of self-worth—e.g. religious worldviews. We assessed whether level of valuation of God’s love mitigated the consequences of objectification. Women high in a sense of God’s love fared better after contemplating experiences of being judged.
