Emotion Perception Task Type Matters: Older Adults Perform Best Under Deliberate Task Conditions

This study investigated whether manipulating the amount of time older adults were able to respond to the categorizing of emotional faces had any influence on overall emotion perception accuracy. Results showed increasing time to respond (five seconds compared to self-paced) improved accuracy in emotion perception (t_(23)=4.93, p<.001; d=1.02).
