Look at That Rock! : Induced Mate Abundance Increases Women’s Expectations for Engagement Ring Size and Cost

Women (N = 193) were primed with either mate-scarcity or abundance and subsequently reported expectations for long-term mates’ resource investment toward them (engagement ring size expectations). Women primed with belief that mates are abundant in the population reported expectations of significantly larger ring size relative to women primed with mate-scarcity.
