Prompts to Regulate Emotions When Reading Health Information Increases Health Intentions

Abstract

This study examined the impact of emotion regulation prompts on self-reported intentions to eat healthy. Participants asked to regulate their emotions while reading a health pamphlet evidenced a greater increase in healthy eating intentions compared to those asked to pay attention to the pamphlet, t(117) = 2.318, p = .022.
