Abstract

We evaluated how maternal role-confusion and parenting strategies relate to behavioral problems in preadolescence. Aspects of maternal role-confusion (helplessness, frightened relationship) and parental acceptance were unique predictors of behavioral problems. Results suggest the importance of addressing maternal role-confusion and acceptance when working with preadolescents at risk for behavioral problems.
