Abstract

This study evaluated the predictive power of cognition (across 37 tasks) and personality (22 surveys) to ideological inclinations in politics, nationalism, and religion. Cross-validation prediction and Bayesian analyses revealed that incorporating psychological factors into predictive models of ideological attitudes increases explanatory power by 10-fold relative to solely relying on demographics.
