Abstract

In an emotional stop-signal task we tested how facial expressions might influence inhibitory control. Presentation of disgust stimulated inhibitory control but presentation of anger impeded it. This effect was moderated by attentional focus. Inhibitory control can be modulated by behavioral tendencies (approach versus avoidance) evoked by emotional stimuli.
