The Role of Situational Interest in the Process of Conceptual Change

Abstract

Path analysis was used to explore the influence of need for cognition, dissatisfaction, individual and situational interest, and cognitive engagement on conceptual change. Results revealed a significant relationship between cognitive engagement and conceptual change. Further, results revealed the situational interest and conceptual change relationship was fully mediated by cognitive engagement.
