The Effect of Gender of Initiator and Payer on a Date on Perceived Attractiveness and Compatibility

This study examined the effect of gender of initiator and payer of a date. A man's attractiveness was unaffected by either variable, however, attractiveness of a woman was greater when she paid for the date. Conversely, the couple was perceived as more compatible when the man paid for the date.
