Abstract

Previous research has shown that holding fixed theory of intelligence may lead to self-handicapping. In our research, we aimed to verify and broaden this observation. We found that manipulating participants’ implicit theory of intelligence moderated the relationship between originally held theory of ability and behavioural self-handicapping.
