Dual Strategy Model and Bullshit: Statistical Reasoners Are More Receptive to Pseudo-Profound Statements

Abstract
We present evidence that the dual strategy model predicts bullshit receptivity. Our study (N = 108) showed that statistical reasoners were more receptive to pseudo-profound statements, e.g. "Wholeness quiets infinite phenomena", (M = 2.92) than counterexample reasoners (M = 2.27), F = 7.26, p <0.01, even with CRT scores considered.
