Support Promotes Student Success: Validation of the Scale of Perceived Instructor Support (SPIS)

Abstract
The present study validated a four-factor questionnaire measuring perceived instructor support on autonomy, expectation, interpersonal relationships, and engagement. A CFA demonstrated good fit for the model and high item loadings for each factor. Results indicated students who planned to return to the university reported higher levels of autonomy and expectation.
