Coping with Bereavement and Job Loss: Support for the Psychology of Loss Theory in the US and India

Limited research exists examining grief responses across loss type or cultures. Results indicated grief symptoms differed by culture but not across two types of loss, job loss and bereavement. Role centrality, avoidant coping, and randomness were positively associated, while belief in a just world was negatively associated with grief reactions.
