Abstract

The head direction cell (HDC) system in the brain is widely understood to be involved in basic spatial navigation, however, we have shown that HDCs are involved in wider scale navigation and are likely the neural correlate to magnetoreception. This unprecedented revelation has implications for spatial research in all fields.
