Abstract

We investigated the relationship between psychopathy and empathic pain. During fMRI, participants experienced, and watched a stranger experience, painful pressure. A linear regression controlling for IQ, age, PSI, and gender found response similarity in left anterior insula predicted psychopathy scores. Findings suggest disrupted representations of other’s pain in psychopathy.
