Abstract

The link between religious attendance and suicide risk is poorly understood. In a collegiate sample, greater attendance was serially related to feeling forgiven by God and reduced psychopathology and, in turn, to reduced suicide risk. Therapeutic promotion of religious and spiritual engagement, and addressing psychopathology, may reduce collegiate suicide risk.
