Abstract
144 5-year-olds from diverse, low-income families were assessed on a structured block-building task to understand children’s real-time processes during tasks requiring spatial cognition. Video records were coded for strategies used, task outcome and errors made. Preliminary results relate certain behaviors to performance and document early emerging differences in spatial skills.
