Age, Memory Load, and Interruption Effects on Individual Working Memory Performance

Abstract

Interruptions are common in everyday life and negatively affect working memory. We explored the effects of auditory interruptions and load on an n-back task in young and older adults. Both load and interruptions negatively impacted performance for both age groups. However, aging effects were more evident on response time.
