Go with Plan a: The Powerless Are More Distracted By Backup Plans Than the Powerful

Abstract

For some people, backup plans can be a distraction rather than a safety net. We examined how individuals’ sense of power affects how distracted one gets by backup plans. Results from four studies showed that individuals experiencing high power are less distracted by backup plans than individuals experiencing low power.
