Abstract
Sex differences in compassion for a child were examined. Four vignettes about an upset child (2boys, 2girls) asked how participants would react. Half also read an empathy prime. Males were less compassionate than females; participants were less compassionate toward the boy than the girl. The empathy prime had no impact.
