Simple First Day Exercise to Reduce Student Anxiety of Statistics and Produce Data

Abstract

A quick and “fun” activity significantly decreased student anxiety day one of statistics class. This exercise, using a small sample, produced robust data usable during the semester on topics such as measures of central tendency, variability, inter-rater reliability, hypothesis testing for repeated measures and independent samples and correlation.
