Interview Protocol Development to Explore Experienced Bias in Engineering Graduate Students

Abstract
Qualitative interviews conducted with women and underrepresented racial/ethnic minorities in advanced engineering demonstrated the interview introduction and questions around experiences of bias required significant restructuring to elicit participant narratives. Narratives demonstrated some advanced engineering students disregard social interactions in their educational experiences, while others’ engineering training is severely impacted.
