Chinese Teachers’ Perceptions of Early Childhood School Readiness

Abstract

We examined 261 Chinese kindergarten teachers’ perceptions of early school readiness. Results suggested that they viewed many of their students as not ready for school. Social–emotional skills were placed higher values versus academic skills. We also compared the results to a dataset from American teachers using the same survey.
