Abstract

The effects of handwriting and typing on memory for words were examined. Participants wrote, typed, or simply listened to 40 stimulus words, presented aurally. Neither psychomotor procedure led to memory benefits greater than the other, and participants in the control condition significantly outperformed those in the experimental groups.
