Abstract

This meta-analysis evaluated hippocampal volumes in individuals with PTSD according to trauma type. Most trauma types had smaller hippocampi, with mixed and interpersonal having the largest effect sizes. Our results generally confirm that individuals with PTSD from interpersonal violence have smaller hippocampal volumes than those of other trauma types.
