Hippocampal activity during fear extinction recall is linked to PTSD symptoms in healthy controls

Abstract

Post-traumatic stress disorder is a disorder hallmarked by intrusive and debilitating symptoms following exposure to trauma. This study investigated investigate relationships between hippocampal activity during extinction recall and PTSD symptom severity. Preliminary findings revealed a negative correlation (p < 0.01) between hippocampal activation (20, -40, -1) and PTSD symptoms severity.
