Abstract

Research indicates that mathematics anxiety is associated with lower mathematics achievement. The extent to which test design induces mathematics anxiety is not widely documented. Participants of this experiment were randomly placed in one of four multiple-choice answer-patterns. The results show that test patterns induced anxiety, which negatively correlated with performance.
