Abstract

Past research shows system-justification (SJ) motivation predicts positivity towards migrants in contexts where national ideologies support immigration (Canada). This study extended those findings in the USA, a context with more national ambivalence towards immigration. We found SJ-related variables predicted migrant stereotype positivity independent of other ideologies (e.g., social dominance).
