Abstract

The current study investigated the presence of gender and pain-related stereotypes in adult participants’ perception of a child in pain. Participants (N=248) read a short story of a 7-year old boy/girl suffering from either temporary/chronic pain followed by questions regarding their perceived pain. Pain-related stereotypic attributions significantly differed across variables.
