Abstract
A social Approach-Avoidance Task was created to differentiate approach and avoidance motives toward the self and others after social rejection. Preliminary analyses indicated that participants are quicker to approach social stimuli (friends and the self) than neutral stimuli, demonstrating individuals’ general social goals. Additional analyses and implications are discussed.
